About this app
All of the questions and study material in this app are hand-written in house by our team of IT professionals (all who have passed their CompTIA A+ exams) and are based on the content in Professor Messer’s video series and the official CompTIA study materials.
How to Study For the CompTIA Security+ Exam
We recommend doing this process for the Core 1 exam, and once you’ve passed that, repeating it for the Core 2 exam.
1. Content review – watch Professor Messer’s (free) A+ video series to learn the exam content. We’ve embedded this series in the “study” section of our app. You can also watch it on Youtube or Professor Messer’s website.
2. Practice quizzes – once you’re comfortable with the content, start taking quizzes topic by topic (quizzes are aligned with the official CompTIA curriculum), until you’re consistently scoring over the passing grade on each topic.
3. Timed exams – after you’ve mastered all topics, we recommend taking a full timed exam to simulate the real test conditions.
4. Once you’re passing practice exams and you’re passing probability score is at your target, you’re ready to take the test!
Exam Information
The CompTIA A+ is an entry-level IT certification designed to validate foundational skills in computer hardware, software, networking, operating systems, security, and troubleshooting. It consists of two exams—Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202)—each with up to 90 multiple-choice questions, drag-and-drop tasks, and performance-based simulations, taken over 90 minutes. Core 1 focuses on mobile devices, hardware, networking, virtualization, and troubleshooting, while Core 2 covers operating systems, security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. Passing both exams earns the A+ credential, which is widely recognized as a starting point for IT support, help desk, and technical roles.
