A bit more information about the CNA Test:
- Two Parts: The CNA exam has two parts — a written (or oral, depending on your state) knowledge test and a skills performance test.
- Time Limit: The written/oral test usually takes about 1 to 2 hours, while the skills test can take about 30 to 45 minutes.
- Number of Questions: The written test typically has around 60 multiple-choice questions. Oral tests have the same number of questions read aloud.
- Skills Tested: The skills portion requires demonstration of key nursing assistant tasks such as hand washing, taking vital signs, moving patients safely, and infection control procedures.
- Passing Score: Most states require a minimum passing score of around 70% to 75% on the written/oral test.
- Read Carefully: Take your time to read or listen to each question fully before answering; don’t rush.
- Avoid Assumptions: Answer only based on what’s asked; don’t add extra information or read into the question.
- Look for Keywords: Watch for absolutes (always, never) and qualifiers to help identify the best answer.
- Eliminate Wrong Answers: Cross out answers that are clearly wrong to improve your chances of selecting the right one.
- Practice Skills: Practice your hands-on skills thoroughly before the test, as demonstrating competency is required to pass.
